All-China Youth Federation
I. Introduction
Established on May 4, 1949, the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF)
is one of China's basic people's organizations led by the Communist
Party of China. It is a federative body of Chinese youth organizations
with the Communist Youth League of China as the core. It is a broad
patriotic united front organization of youth of all ethnic groups
and all walks of life in China.
II. Basic Tasks
Hold aloft the banners of patriotism and socialism; Encourage
young people to study Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng
Xiaoping Theory and to study the socialist market economy, modern
science and technology and general knowledge; Most extensively represent
and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of young people
of all ethnic groups and all walks of life; Guide young people to
actively participate in social activities and work hard to help
them develop healthily and become well-trained; Actively develop
ties of friendship with young people of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao
and overseas Chinese; Consolidate and develop the situation of social
stability and unity in China, promote its socialist modernization
drive, push the development of the socialist market economy, improve
the socialist democracy and legal system and promote the reunification
of the motherland and defend the peace and development of the whole
world.
III. Membership
The ACYF practices the system of organizational memberships.
It has 48 member organizations and 1352 individual committee members
at the present time.
IV. Highest Decision-making Body
The highest decision-making body of the ACYF is the National
Committee that works for a term of five years. The National Committee
has a President, a number of Vice Presidents. When it is not in
session, the Standing Committee presides over the Federation's work.
The Standing Committee has a Secretary-general and a number of Deputy
Secretaries-general.
V. Working Organs
The ACYF Secretariat is responsible for the routine affairs of
the Federation. It has the following departments: The Department
of Coordination Affairs; The Department of Ethnic and Religious
Affairs; The Department of Cultural and Sports Activities; The Department
of Science and Technology; The Department of Education; The Department
of Social Organizations;The Department of Human Resources Development;The
Department of Friendship with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan; The International
Department, and The Tourism Department.
